The
Folk House

Born in 1960, Danny Doughty has been painting for the last 25 years.
Only in the past year has he pursued his work full time. Danny resides
in the small village of Willis Wharf on the Virginia Eastern Shore. He
lives in the same house where he was born and raised. This area is very
isolated from the rest of the world. It is also very slow changing with
the rest of the world. He feels that this has been the catalyst for his
unique 'Naive' style of painting. His work is pure and down to earth.
It just leaves you with the feeling of life just a little better than
the reality of the real world. |
"I really
hate labels!
It's like this with me!
Life has made me....me!
When I paint...and it just Happens,
I know that I am where I want to be!
There is no right or wrong,
it literally comes from within...
No pictures, no rules, nothing,
but me visioning what is in
my mind, heart and soul at any given time.
All my life I have tried to put
a name or style on my work, but it just didn't stick...I know now what
my work is to me...
It's me.
It's what has or hasn't happened to me.
It's what I have seen - felt -
dealt with or haven't dealt with.
It is absolutely a work in progress...
as is my life!
So therefore, there is no right or wrong...
It is the purest essence of
who I am or hope to be!
I can only hope that my work
brings you to
a place that feels good!
Where Life's Imperfections
let you see life...
A little brighter, a little more forgiven,
a little nicer and a little Sweeter."
